Since its establishment in 1995, the Department of Architecture at Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology has been contributing to architectural education in Bangladesh. The first batch of students graduated in 2000 with a five-year Bachelor of Architecture degree. Graduates from the department enter the professional field through this studio-based education model. The department continues to advance its position and legacy through research. Over the years, students have earned notable recognition in various national and international architecture competitions.
Students from the department are engaged in diverse branches of architecture, including architectural design, history, theory, urban planning, landscape, sustainability, architectural technology, and advanced design innovation. They are also involved in developing architectural portfolios and working in higher education institutions both domestically and abroad. Many members of the department have received prestigious awards in recognition of their excellence in architecture.
To uphold the department’s values and legacy, strengthen alumni connections, and build relationships with other professional and organizational bodies, an architectural initiative was formed. In 2011, after three meetings, a full-fledged Ahsanullah Architecture Alumni organization was established in 2013 with a 150-member advisory board. This platform focuses on advanced architectural education, research, professional development, policy-making, and architectural planning. The organization is led by a Chief Executive Officer, and responsibilities are transferred to the next executive council through a structured electoral process as per the constitution.
